Issues and Solutions
Housing

For Dave the housing crisis in New Jersey is personal. Thousands of young people are feeling the pinch of rising rents and home prices preventing them from starting families here in the Garden State. This crisis is not limited to young people, as all New Jersey residents struggle with rising prices and one of the highest property tax burdens in the nation. Seniors too are struggling under this burden with many forced out of their homes and into an exploitative senior care industry. We need solutions that address the housing shortage to combat rising prices, bring down the property tax burden, and ensure everyone in New Jersey has a roof over their head.

As your Assemblyman Dave will fight for...

  • Changes to zoning to make housing more abundant and affordable

  • A land value tax to replace property tax and give homeowners a discount

  • Incentives for municipalities to build more affordable housing, and penalties for those that fight against meet their obligations

Education

A good education is the greatest advantage a society can give its future generations. With numerous friends and family members working in education Dave knows our education system is in crisis, with bold leadership and new ideas being needed to repair the damage misguided policies such as "No Child Left Behind" and the COVID pandemic have done to our schools. With our schools becoming battle grounds in the culture war and the constant threat of gun violence hanging over our students heads Dave will make sure every student feels safe and accepted in schools and push back on hateful attempts by legislators to bully children. In addition we must confront the reality of New Jersey being home to the most segregated school system in the country and ensure that every child has access to a quality education regardless of zip code.

As your Assemblyman Dave will fight for...

  • More support for; the arts, extracurriculars, student mental health services, special needs education, and ESL instruction 

  • A ban on smartphones and AI in schools

  • Universal Pre-K

  • Tuition free public college and trade school

  • A requirement for Rutgers to automatically consider applicants for all three campuses to keep students in-state

  • Free speech rights on college campuses

  • Requiring phonics a method of instruction to tackle illiteracy

Civil Rights

As Donald Trump plans unconstitutional and unjust raids in New Jersey, violating the rights of our citizens, we need leaders with the courage to speak out and fight back against these infringements. Civil rights are personal for Dave, and he will stop at nothing to advance the cause of justice and get in some "good trouble".

 

As your Assemblyman Dave will fight for...

  • Protections for access to reproductive care and contraception

  • Protections for the LGBTQ+ community and access to gender affirming care

  • The right of all New Jerseyans to live their lives free from the fear of discrimination especially our Jewish and Muslim neighbors

  • New Jersey's sanctuary status and additional protections for immigrants from Donald Trump's warrantless raids

  • Citizen's data rights and freedom from the proliferation of surveillance technology

Transportation

As a someone who works in the transportation field and an NJTransit commuter, Dave is intimately familiar with the way our transportation infrastructure works, or increasingly, doesn't work. As NJTransit and NJDOT are bled dry by rent-seeking consultants, New Jersey taxpayers are left to foot the bill for an unsafe and unreliable system of trains, buses, and roads. Every New Jerseyan deserves to have a safe. reliable, and affordable way to get to school, work, and everywhere else.

As your Assemblyman Dave will fight for...

  • An audit of NJTransit and NJDOT to ensure taxpayer dollars are no longer subsidizing consultants at the expense of our citizens and their infrastructure

  • A requirement that NJTransit honor the tickets of any riders that have been subject to unreasonable delays or cancellations

  • A freeze on fair increases so working families can catch a break from high prices and inflation

  • A "Vision Zero" policy to bring pedestrian and bike deaths on our streets to ZERO

  • A cancellation of the Governor's disastrous turnpike widening program 

Healthcare

Since the COVID pandemic, we have been forced to confront the realities of America's broken healthcare system. A proper system should be built to ensure health at every stage of life, providing adequate care for newborns and their parents, guaranteeing access to healthy food during one's life, and providing the best possible care to our elderly. Dave understands that proper health is the foundation of a happy and fulfilled life, and will work every day to raise the standard of living for all New Jerseyans.

  • A cap on childcare expenses for working families

  • Paid family leave for new parents

  • Free school lunches, partnering with farmers here in the Garden State to ensure proper nutrition standards and organic food for every student

  • Medical debt relief

  • Consolidation of county Medicare eligibility offices to ensure greater efficiency

  • Minimum staffing requirements for nurses and pharmacists

  • Guaranteed access to mental health care

  • An end to the War on Drugs and decriminalization of possession of small amounts of drugs to instead prioritize treatment for those suffering from addiction   

Environment

New Jersey has long been a leader in advancing environmental sustainability, and while great strides have been made, more work remains to be done to ensure that everyone in New Jersey has the right to enjoy clean air, clean water, access to green spaces and to preserve biodiversity. New Jersey must also confront the realities of the climate crisis, particularly increased flooding as a result of rising sea levels and increased rainfall. Dave works every day to ensure New Jersey's roads are resilient in the face of this flooding, and will continue this public service in Trenton.

  • A moratorium on warehouses

  • Incentives for brownfield redevelopment

  • Consolidation of Trenton Water Works to ensure better service for all residents it serves

  • Making polluters pay for the damage they cause

  • A clear pathway for New Jersey to fully decarbonize
